We are honoured to announce that two-time Grammy Award and Academy Award winning
film composer, record producer, singer and songwriter A.R. Rahman will be participating at the festival! One of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world, Rahman has composed and produced original scores and songs for more than 145 films in various languages, including the critically acclaimed Slumdog Millionaire, which earned him a Golden Globe, a BAFTA and two Oscars - one for the title song ‘Jai Ho’ which was later adapted into English for girl group The Pussycat Dolls becoming a platinum-selling hit single.
Rahman also founded the Sunshine Orchestra, an ambitious symphonic orchestra comprising young adults from socially and economically deprived backgrounds. The project is an initiative of the A.R. Rahman Foundation, which was set up to further Rahman’s notable humanitarian and charitable activities.
