The 4th International Composers Festival coming from all corners of the globe, including Mexico, Qatar, USA, Japan, Italy, Spain and Argentina opened with eighteen pieces of the very best in beautiful, melodic music, carefully chosen from hundred's of entries for their quality, passion and variety, performed by the International Festival Orchestra, in the presence of the composers.

The day commenced with Solo instrumentalists and small ensembles performing some sixteen works by fourteen composers of beautiful and intimate works, including several world premieres.

A mesmerising blend of cinematic music and ambient soundtrack by Brighton composer Penny Loosemore with the UK's only piano, clarinet, cello and violin quartet.

The large International Festival Orchestra performed soundtracks from film and television including music from 'La La Land, Harry Potter, Miss Marple, Shindler's List together with exciting computer gaming music including the music from Oure to a packed theatre.

The Festival's artistic director, Polo Piatti in conversation with two of the greatest young pianists of our time, Sunny Li (China) and Oliver Poole (UK)
They discussed the art of improvisation, composing, commissioning and performing works, with some stunning performances from both pianists. Plus questions and discussions from the audience which were continued afterwards over coffee and cake. A wonderful opportunity to meet these talented artists.

DANCING AROUND THE WORLD

World premiere of THE CRANE WIFE, a specially commissioned ballet based on a traditional Japanese fairy story with the choreographer Masu Uesugi and her ballet company travelled especially from Japan to perform.
Plus six commissioned SYMPHONIC DANCES from composers from around the world, with the International Festival Orchestra and choreographed and performed by local dance schools .
